Design of Riverside Restaurant, Pune

So basically, we were asked to design a riverside restaurant along the calm backwaters of the Khadakwasla dam. And well, it was a picture-perfect site indeed. Like, it had the scenic silhouette views of the Sinhagad fort on one hand and the Mutha river on the other. So, we knew right away that this place didn’t need any grandeur; it needed sensitivity.

Hence, we decided to skip the traditional framework and went in for horizontal fins along the south facade. This helped us control heat and still keep the views open and soft. Next, we added a shed roof as per the curves of the nearby hillocks; it did look more grounded that way!

And then, the insides had a soft Balinese touch with all its natural textures, open spaces and vistas. So yes, this project isn’t your typical restaurant in Pune; it’s actually like a small getaway, where memories linger in long after the meal ends.
